In Wesley's day spitting blood was a dangerous sign, and might be associated with consumption which could prove fatal. At any rate, it was likely a sign of significant pathology. Todya he might, at the very least be advised to get a chest X-ray and rest. Not so for Wesley! He carried on.

David Mackereth is a medical doctor, who now preaches the Gospel, full time, particularly in the open air, but also on the internet. David became a Christian in 1982, whilst studying medicine at the University of St Andrews, in Scotland. From 1990 to 1992 David studied at the London Theological Seminary in Finchley, North London. This college was set up by Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones to train men for the Christian ministry.
